Excellent.

2.Tiny speck of a scratch on the screen.

3. Keys squeaky clean, also squeaks on occassion mostly because of the rubberised layout.

4. Some dust accumulated in the 3.5mm jack (psst...lost the tiny rubber plug the first day and I still dont know why Nokia decided so).

5. Some loose dirt accumulated in the ear phone & loudspeaker vents...which i know is quiet normal.

6. Never used the datacable that came alongwith the device, since most except Firmware upgrades are handled over bluetooth.

7. Using the Nokia MicroSD 1GB card which came alongwith. No issues with 1GB which proves to be a lot for me since i dont store songs a lot (got some 40 odd good ones), some poor quality photos snapped on the device's 2MP crappy non focus cam. Almost all space is dedicated to stuff which I really really need.

8. The camera is still poor...even after the latest round of firmware upgrade i did start of this month! May be camera in a E63 is just meant for some impromptu moments and thats abt it.

9. Just just noticed - the key pad, the extreme top right side of it where it touches the display is started peeling off! Is it just unique to me or is the build quality speaking for itself?

10. Most importantly the selling point - QWERTY keypad...the selling point. Truly a selling point and proved a boon for me and its been so good that am writing the review straight off the E63! According to me the keypad is much better because of the rubberised texture of the keys, which give better grip to the fingertips...

11. Social Networking: we arent gonna believe Nokia for a second when they proclaim the current E series as social networking champs...come on Nokia, we all know where you stand...dark ages, dont even dare to compare with the blackberry's (i used one). I downloaded the facebook app and i am not liking a it a bit :-(

Software:

Running 400.21.013. Nokia finally proved everybody wrong, they dont drop support for an e-series just like that.

Been rock steady reliable from the day i bought it. No complaints!

The phone has hung on me abt 4-5 times in the whole time I have had it! Which goes to say a lot and which goes to show how I treat my phone. Its the primary computer..that's where I think aloud, that's where i write, read and a lot lot more...

369 MHZ ARM CORTEX 11 cpu dont sound like much..but u need to work on it to believe what speed is...solid & reliable performance here too..Kudos Nokia!

Ovi Store/Nokia's version of App Store..not a great feeling about that, no, not just yet.

No good quality give aways...i am used to quality goodies from Nokia! I heard though, Nokia are working hard, spending millions on making this a worthwhile effort.

E63, i should say, is a value for money deal for most people who look out to get the E71 experience at a lower cost factor and in the bargain losing out on the 3.2MP (crappy) snapper and the A GPS. Personally i havent tried GPS or A GPS and there4 cant comment on that one aspect. Otherwise its just too good a value for money deal!

I see lotta E63 enthusiasts these days..people upgrading to this one straight from whatever phone they might have used in the past...why? Is it because it is currently the cheapest retailing QWERTY smartphone?

Partly yes, people in India, atleast the masses are getting to use a qwerty probably for the first time! So its quiet obvious, the excitement factor. But, the situation begs a question, are they even aware the giant processing, multitasking, editing and many more features of this simple looking qwerty? I dont see Nokia coming out with Advts educating people, highlighting what else can be done with the Eseries....Its time Nokia brought the latent power of the E Series to the average user's notice!

Am I happy with this phone! Yaaayy, a mighty Yaaaayyy.

Am I bored with this phone! Yaaayy, a mighty Yaaaayyy. I am bored, cos of the familiarity fatigue syndrome...sometimes haunts me so very bad..I know its gonna be the same even if I upgrade to the E72! Dont know which way I'll go.

But I do miss Blackberry Connect!

23/11/2009 now what do thackerays have to say?

We always knew this.

12/11/2009

Been reading this book called famine by Graham Masterton. Feels like kind of dropped out of the Radar!

I in some way feel liberated....it might not be something easy for all to understand, but for me, getting back to nokia e-series is liberating.

Blackberry afterall wasnt so bad on me, the learning curve wasnt a problem, i relished it, i enjoyed it to the core. A lot of things felt different and felt good...that is for the first few days till i started filling up my pearl and realised that the device had a major restriction! Which was that, i cant save downloaded applications to the memory card but can only do so in the phone memory which was a paltry 64mb and after soft reset left me with a spare 9-10 mb. Apart from that was the most feared hourglass which popped up in the middle of sometimes even the simplest operations and took several minutes to go away...sometimes which even led me to do a hard reset, quiet explicable, the device was actually struggling to cope up with the downloads i usually do paired with limited RAM...and the slow processor and some of the other things that i never understood completely.

There were some great aspects too, which is my current wish list for Nokia Eseries to have.

1. the dynamic learning capability of the software meant that all words/names or anything else.

2. The social networking capabilities are top notch...facebook/twitter/yahoo messenger & msn integration to name a few with integration running upto the address book.

3. Security aspect again typical Blackberry topnotch.

4. USB charging

So what drove me back to the Eseries again?

1. Poor battery life 900 mAH meant that i need to carry my charger with me wherever i go.

2. Soft/hard resets...almost every other day, the time it took to reboot after every such reboot.

3. Fragile build...you could feel its fragility when you felt it up...felt cheap mostly.

4. Upgrade to a higher versions of blackberry, just too costly.

5. Suretype though good, started getting to me after sometime.

6. Address book had major restrictions...you cant add more than 1 mobile number to a name as is the case with adding URLs.

So here I am, back to where I guessed I always belonged...the Eseries, got the E63 for a paltry 13k...packed with the tested and affirmed strengths

1. great PIM...unlimited fields of entry.

2. Wifi

3. A passable 2mp camera better than blackberry cam.

4. A durable hardware build, though plasticky.

5. A bigger and better screen.

6. I dont have to lug the charger with me always...1500mAH means i can pass 2 days of heavy usage...calls, browsing, emailing, twittering, etc., without having to worry about the battery draining out .

7. Most importantly an expansive full qwerty keypad...

I am loving it right now. No complaints till now, because i know Nokia has a great resale value too...

Vote India - Results!

The verdict is out. You can't call the voting masses to be fools or having missed a beat in deciding the fate of the nation.
Yes the verdict is almost out with clear indicators on the direction the national politics and decision making us gonna head.
The secular (or as some may call the pseudo secular) have made it to power and the right wingers and their allies are scampering for cover and so are the eternal nay sayers the communists.
I am happy to the extent that the right and the left wingers have been held at bay.
All the politics of hate and personal attacks that the right spread have been rightfully rejected by the masses of My nation while also beating the communists in their own power bastions.
Overall looks the Indian voters have taught a lesson to be never forgotten by the right wingers and the communists which goes to show that you need to have real issues to discuss and just not harping upon personal one up manship or indulging meaningless issues like the black money or whatsoever.
I from My personal point of view am happy for choosing lesser of the two evils by saying which I stress upon My standing which often gets confused amongst My friends as being pro congress.
For the moment am just contended that atleast the ultra orthodox Hindu religious parties have been kept out of the decision making process.
The most important thing that the winning combination has to remember is that this is not all and that they don't have absolute majority as individual parties but do so in standing together. Which also means they should not go back to playing divisive inpoliticking and push for individual agendas but stand together to tackle issues which face is as a nation.
India at this moment is surrounded by unstable neighbors each of which is trying to survive on a day to day basis and poses major security threats to us. Major initiatives will immediately need to be put in place to engage the united states which for the first time has got a thinking head of the state in Obama. Engage china for regional security and confidence building measures. Keep a watchful eye over Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh & Sri Lanka.
Security of the nation & its citizens should become a top notch priority for the government while also bolstering and strengthening the intelligence gathering set up. A slight slip up in the present scenario might mean a lot of damage and setback for India.
At the same time also push for kickstarting the economy reeling under pressures of recession. Bring back the lost jobs to the Indian families and individuals while at the sametime setup more institutions in the line of IITs in far flung corners of the nation to bring up new and world beating talents.
Healthcare, women & child welfare are other areas under general neglect which needs to be focused immediately. Better hospitals and funds for medical education institutions in the line of IITs need to be setup.
Real education and poverty alleviation programs which are all inclusive needs to be strengthened and followed upon.
Lot many more things need to be done and am not in a position to write all My thoughts down.
Watching the outcome has made me brim with pride!
Wow! The power of the ballot! Kudos to the Indian public and kudos again to India.
let India live for ever and progress forever.
Long live the democracy!!!
Best
Mahesh
BOM, MH, IN
BlackBerry PIN -> 23FADDE6
HP# +919987094918
Home Page: http://www.linkedin.com/in/maheshlokhande
Blog - //forwarder.blogspot.com
Sent from BlackBerry®

Vote India!

Good morning India.
Vote with pride. But do pause a moment before you push the button. Think what's happened over the past 5 years. Has it been worth the while? What alternatives do we have? An apple and a rotten apple er...the congress and the bjp.
I don't vouch for the congress. But what viable alternative? None. I love the communists. But they are the eternal pessimists. They see wrong in everything and cry foul. They offer no solutions.
Am confused and I also can't vote this time around unless I travel to haryana or to madras.
But I wish you a lot of luck and I wish you to make the right choice.
I love my Nation of opportunities.

I love my nation for giving me the freedom to travel to any corner, get married, settle down and work out of anywhere.

I love my nation for this reason a true secular freedom to decide.

We need to strive to atleast maintain this status quo if not for any further liberation.

Let us not vote to power those elements who preach hate and try to educate, how we lead our lives.

Let's not vote to power those religious parties and personalities who take a cowardly refuge behind the cursed wall of religion and caste politics.

Let's not ever vote to power those who will endanger the livelihood of our sisters and wives and girlfriends and budding girl kids and talents in the name of religion and caste.

Are we gonna be voting to power those goons whose only agenda is to build temples, destroy churches and demolish mosques?

So think, think hard my friends...this opportunity doesn't call upon you every day except for once in 5 years.

My first week with the blackberry

Okay so I finally did change my phone an annual ritual which I attend to most faithfully and approach the possibilities with excitement and expectation. To tell you the truth, I was totally in love with my e51. She performed all the tasks I asked out of her and I love her for the ability to go beyond expectations. But, I was bored with perfection and familiarity fatigue and my annual ritual was approaching already.
I will tell you something. I am very particular that I replace my phone every year and come hell or high water. Somewhere mid year I started my research for my next. I was not keen on a nok but the choices out of the nokia world us pretty limited.
Zeroed in on blackberry since I also was looking for a messaging solution. However this device and its famed os was something I was never used to. And then I realised that there always is a first time for everything that we do. So here I am typing away my first blog posting from my Blackberry pearl using the much spoken about suretype. I must say I am impressed at its capability. Could have ended up with a curve and its full qwerty instead of the suretype, but I would have had to manage a bigger device and given a miss no the learning experience which pearl sure is. Enjoying and learning. Will catch ya all later.
Best
Mahesh
Bombay 400 089
India
HP# +91 98193 77233 (Home)/+91 99870 94918 (Work)
Home Page: http://www.linkedin.com/in/maheshlokhande
Blog - //forwarder.blogspot.com
*Sent from BlackBerry®*

Experiencing God / Religion all Man Made…and why I beg to differ.

For long in my limited life God/Religion of one kind or the other has played a major role i guess.

I dont know why. It may just be my upbringing under the guidance of the greatest of parents one could ask for. I don’t blame them. I thank them for taking me down the well trodden path of believing in Hinduism and i thank them for schooling me at the best of Christian institutions where i was introduced to another God whom my institution and the people of that religion claimed was the greatest and the truest.

I also had a very close childhood friend of mine living a floor above where we lived who was a Muslim. Quiet surprisingly, i didn’t find any hardcore representation of religion in their home/speech or demeanor.

I come from Mylapore, Madras. The beauty of this place where i lived my childhood was however the presence of a temple i just love to be at, a mosque and a majestic church at the end of the road and lining the beach.

Contradiction:

1. Just who or which religion was the greatest?
2. Is it the countless number of Gods in my religion of birth or is it the oneness of Islam or was it the beauty of Christian liberalism that made these religions great? If you believe in numbers game then there is the shining fact, none can beat Hinduism, may be there are a billion gods. No one can be absolutely sure.
Or is it one of these or all of these religions + add a few more that are responsible for the carnage that’s been inflicted on the humankind over the several millennia continuing till today in various corners of the globe for various motives in the garb of politico-religious liberation.

Which brings me to next big question i ask of myself which is, Is religion and god necessary at all for the wellbeing of the human kind and what would have been the world like one religion less or of a world without religions at all.

What would a Godless world been like to mankind? Is it the human nature of being overawed at things that couldn’t be explained that led to a god syndrome?

I had a long email exchange with one of my God fearing friends today. It all started with his forward mails regarding the beauty of God/s and his ways of manifesting his presence in a subtle manner in our everyday life. My retort with reason had him fuming with anger and frustration. We had to close the exchange with a friendly phone call.

Why does God or the lack of it and an expression of views on ones belief system bring out in most cases, wrath from the believing mind and a lot more except reason?

Why did God become a Global phenomena? Is it because there truly was some God character in various cultures or is it just another way of bringing to bear on us the most basic truth that we are all interconnected and that we all are from the same fountainhead....flowing from the same source of origin, carrying with us the single belief about some inexplicable phenomena we started worshipping then renamed it God and then moving on to corners of the world and adapting, adding, deleting, copying to create clones of this unknown?

Would there have been gruesome wars fought over the centuries in the name of god if we hadn’t surrendered our capability for reasoning and commonsense? But we are so used to just wringing our hands and pushing ourselves into a state of utter helplessness and fall victim to promises that the politicians throw at us.
Whom do we have to look upto in our political class who represents the ethos of youth self liberation? Probably none. Even the so called youth politicians we have and otherwise so media friendly have remained mum about this, which means that they have something really pressing on their minds (the forthcoming elections) or simply put they are the same stereotypes.
The constitution or IPC or whatever should make it very difficult for people/politicians who have violated-spirit of India, the right of expression, gender rights, human rights to stand for elections or declare the above state as serious offence and establish special courts to handle such inhuman individuals.
It pains me to see the real spirit of India getting lost to some really really screwed up geriatric moral policing insecure politicians.
I dont for a second believe that we gave them the right to define Indian culture. Well it may not be about religion at all in the first place but may be more about the expression of fear and hatred of diseased male minds who think with their LOINS.
KUDOS to Ms. Renuka Choudhury as she was the only politician who had the GUTS to speak out...where are the other lady politicians, nt even a token protest came out of Mayawati, Jayalalita, Sushma Swaraj, Mamta Banerjee and many others....For them perhaps, this was an insignificant incident....

short term memory loss and the state of our nation

010934282009
Its very very easy. Just so easy to slip into dark ages into anarchy, become intolerant to the person or society living next door. Its just so easy that it requires no effort at all. Its just some unsophisticated primal instinct of claiming territory, claiming lives, waging wars, coercing people to become what they are not, letting none to enjoy a free life in a society in a country which atleast promises to upkeep the right of the citizen to express themselves, right to speech, right to thought, right to action, right to question, right to seek justice irrespective of class, creed, sex, race, religion, region, allegiance.
Question:
1. If the constitution guarantees all the above why does a common man's life need to be held hostage by some stupid religious outfit which is the antithesis of what the constitution of India guarantees?
2. What does it take for the GoI to bring such antisocial elements to justice and to prevent such radical groups from taking roots?
3. What can you and me as law abiding, tolerant, non religious, atheist, agnostic citizenry do to act against such outfits apart from taking part in candle light vigils as acts of protest?
Just a couple of months back we saw how the nation was held hostage to the act of terrorism not somewhere in Kashmir but right in the heart of our nation. We rallied, we did speak out, we did blog, we did cry hoarse, made varios noises, stood together, but what happened? The MNS, SS Stayed underground till the short term memory of people took effect and now they are back to their old game of harassment, threat, regional and religion politics. So are some newbie outfits like the SRS who believe in beating up women at pubs to make a point.
Well lets not blame them, they will continue their scare tactics as long as we continue to get scared and keep following their dictats. Lets blame the government, the people we voted to power, who enjoy being in power but will never put the power to use for bringing good to the people. Where has the police been in all such cases of harassment against people? SRS Went so far as to announce their intentions to the media, called them to the venue of attack before they started their rampage. So one question begs to be asked! Where was the police? What were they doing? There is not going to be much improvement am afraid, since its not about the lack of equipment that stops the police from acting but a lack of will, lack of courage to act independent after so many years of listening and acting to the wishes of the party in power.
Why cant we demand change? Why cant we look up to the constitution to demand change and to claim our fast eroding rights ?
The Short term memory loss or the Gajini effect is the biggest evil that plagues our nation and society and people and all and is charting our course towards a seemingly difficult and insecure future for both the people & heritage of this nation.

Random Shoot!

Ria as usual doesnt believe how good her snaps turn out to be. But today is exceptional and today is not just any other day. Today is exceptional because of the rise of a man from relative obscurity, from a mix of many things background which many of us despite being Indians dont relate to anymore, a person who had a easy choice of becoming just another common man wallowing in the easy opportunities than tread into criticism, opposition, racist taunts and rise and rise thru to the most powerful job in the world.
Have we not had stories of victory over adversity? If yes, why am i singling out this day or this event or the story of this person Barack Obama? It may be because, the story is unravelling right in front of my eyes and has made a powerful impression in me and reaffirms a story of rising from my own personal difficulties in the year 2002.
With time I didnt remember to remember my own comeback from the brink story.
The lesson learnt and most importantly to be not forgotten and to be reaffirmed daily and every living minute is our own story which could inspire us to achieve something which people say is impossible.
Is it blind adulation that i have for the new POTUS? No, never. I dont know yet as to what he means for the Indian Subcontinent and more specifically to India. I dont know his stand on the middle east crisis and I dont know of the new strategies he has thought of to pull his nation from the financial and economic mess it finds itself in. Amidst all the IDKs i know something and i am pretty sure of this....he is going to be a lot different from the bushes and the many others before him, he is going to be the whiff of fresh air a ray of hope to all. Maybe he may make some wrong choices maybe, maybe he will ruffle a few feathers but maybe thats because he is just human.

Who Am I & What's my Potential?

Life is one which has to be lived beyond the cubicles, my life does not mean to end in a cubicle nor subjugated to some restriction put on me by some authority.
In Life, I am more than what i seem to be.
At work, I produce more results than some people who i dont want to compare myself with, my work is a work of talent and great craftmanship, my work produces great results whether i work as a team or as an individual, i am a one man profit center.

I am a work of superlative commonsense, energy, anger, chaos. Its just a reflection of my current thoughts and i felt i need to share. Your opinions are welcome.
"Why should i have to believe in some god to be a good human?
Why should it be that i try to please some unknown and unproven entity and perform acts to be on the good side?
Well who is this unknown who is said to keep tabs on my/your/our day to day activity?
Is there some proof to show i stand to be tortured after death for not keeping my faith of birth or for that matter living a life without religion?
If its true that the soul of the faithful goes to its version of heaven or hell? Where does the soul of the non religious go to? To hell? Nope? I dont know but i do know that it doesnt always end up somewhere bad.
For all we know, there might not be any heaven or hell at all but a place in the universe where all the energy of our souls will return to.
Logic and science says that everything in this universe needs and works on energy derived from the universe and so that is where the soul or the spirit goes to and not to some imaginary heaven or hell.
Bottom line, you dont need a religion to drive and control your life.
After all, the great and the not so great religions have done more harm than good to humanity. The pages of History stands proof to this.
So would you deliver your soul to the religion and live shackled for the reminder of your life or live without fear, do good to humanity, stand up against the bad and do something good to yourself?"
These are some thoughts that run in my little head every morning and i thought that i will capture and share this momentary flash of the blinding obvious.

we were at the gate way of India

<img style="CLEAR: both;
